Ap1--0 to 7 centimeters; black (10YR 2/1) crushed sandy loam, gray (10YR 5/1) crushed, dry; weak medium subangular blocky, and weak coarse granular structure; friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; low excavation difficulty; noneffervescent; very strongly acid, pH 4.8, Bromcresol green.

Ap2--7 to 28 centimeters; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) interior sandy loam; weak medium subangular blocky structure; friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; low excavation difficulty; many fine roots throughout and many very fine roots throughout; noneffervescent; very strongly acid, pH 4.8, Bromcresol green; abrupt smooth boundary.. Tongues into Bw1 are common. Few zones of unmasked sand grains - medium.

Bw1--28 to 56 centimeters; light olive brown (2.5Y 5/4) interior sandy loam; weak medium subangular blocky structure; friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; low excavation difficulty; common fine roots throughout and common medium roots throughout and common very coarse roots throughout; noneffervescent; very strongly acid, pH 5.0, Bromcresol green; clear smooth boundary.. Horizon gives up free water when squeezed.
