Oi--0 to 6 cm; brown (7.5YR 4/2), slightly decomposed plant material; many
fine roots throughout and many medium roots throughout and common very fine
roots throughout; abrupt wavy boundary.
Oe--6 to 13 cm; black (7.5YR 2.5/1), moderately decomposed plant material;
many medium roots throughout and many fine roots throughout and common very fine
roots throughout; abrupt wavy boundary.
Ap--13 to 19 cm; black (10YR 2/1) broken face, mucky sandy loam; moderate
medium subangular blocky structure; very friable, noncemented, nonsticky,
nonplastic; few very fine roots throughout; 2 percent fine faint irregular very
dark gray (10YR 3/1), moist, iron depletions with clear boundaries in matrix
surrounding redox concentrations and 5 percent medium prominent irregular dark
reddish brown (5YR 2.5/2), moist, iron depletions with diffuse boundaries in
matrix; 2 percent subrounded 2 to 75 millimeter mixed rock fragments; abrupt
smooth boundary.
Bg1--19 to 28 cm; dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2), loamy coarse sand; weak fine
subangular blocky structure, and weak medium subangular blocky structure;
friable, noncemented, nonsticky, nonplastic; common medium roots throughout and
few fine roots throughout; 3 percent medium prominent irregular strong brown
(7.5YR 5/8), moist, masses of oxidized iron with clear boundaries at top of
horizon and 5 percent medium prominent irregular yellowish red (5YR 4/6), moist,
iron-manganese masses with clear boundaries infused into matrix along ped faces
and 5 percent coarse prominent irregular yellowish red (5YR 4/6), moist,
iron-manganese masses with clear boundaries infused into matrix along ped faces
and 5 percent coarse faint irregular dark gray (10YR 4/1), moist, iron
depletions with diffuse boundaries at top of horizon; 5 percent subrounded 2 to
75 millimeter mixed rock fragments; clear wavy boundary.
Bg2--28 to 34 cm; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2), loamy coarse sand; weak
fine subangular blocky structure, and weak medium subangular blocky structure;
friable, noncemented, nonsticky, nonplastic; few fine roots throughout and few
medium roots throughout; faint irregular very dark gray (10YR 3/1), moist, iron
depletions with diffuse boundaries at top of horizon and prominent irregular
dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron with sharp
boundaries lining pores and distinct irregular yellowish brown (10YR 5/6),
moist, masses of oxidized iron with clear boundaries at top of horizon; clear
wavy boundary.
